  • Pray Like Jesus

    In Luke 11 one of Jesus' disciples comes to Him after He finishes praying and asks Jesus to teach them how to pray. What is often referred to as "The Lord's Prayer" is actually an outline, or model, Jesus gives as for prayer. 

    A simple acronym to follow would be this: PRAY - Praise, Repent, Ask, Yeild. 

    Here is Jesus' model for prayer:

    Our Father in heaven - Acknowledge Who God is, address Him for Who He is to you. 

    Hallowed be Your name - As you acknowledge Him, remember that He is Holy and separate from us.

    Your Kingdom come. 

    Your will be done

    on earth as it is in heaven - This is where we surrender ourselves to the Lord's will, seeking first His kingdom.

    Give us this day our daily bread - Ask the Lord for any needs you have believing that He already knows them.

    And forgive us our sins - confess your sins to God, trusting that He is faithful and just to forgive you.

    For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us - If you have any unforgiveness towards other in your heart this is when you should pray about it.

    And do not lead us into temptation - Converse with the Lord about any temptation you know you may deal with, seek to honor Him in this time by acknowledging that you need His strength.

    But deliver us from the evil one (evil) - Talk to the Lord about the spiritual warfare you are engaged in and trust in Him to help you fight.
