spiritual growth hub

Spiritual disciplines are practices that help us grow in our relationship with God. They don’t earn God’s love—Jesus already secured that through His death, burial, and resurrection. But they place us in a position to know Him more deeply, to be transformed by His Word, and to live obediently. Through practices like prayer, reading Scripture, worship, and reflection, we learn to walk daily in communion with the Lord.

1 Timothy 4:7 "...exercise yourself toward godliness"

Pray like jesus

In Luke 11 one of Jesus' disciples comes and asks Him to teach them to pray. What you may know as the Lord's Prayer is actually a model, or outline, for us to follow. Here's what Jesus said:

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one

The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Lk 11:2–4.

Here's a simple outline:

  1. Acknowledge God. Address Him as holy, and separate from us.
  2. Surrender your will to His will for you.
  3. Ask for any needs you may have, trusting that God already knows them. (Don't neglect your spiritual needs).
  4. Confess your sins to God and seek His forgiveness.
  5. Talk with the Lord about any hurt, resentment, or conflict you may have with others.
  6. Ask the Lord to help you with any temptation you know you may face and to fight spiritual battles.
